Super performance for all your water-based pursuits. In the 1960s, the new sport of scuba diving was all the rage. For divers, timing was everything, and Breitling set out to give them the most clear-cut dive watch possible by eliminating any feature that didn’t support their lifesaving needs underwater. This pared-down watch was named the Superocean Slow Motion. What remained were clean lines, chunky luminescent indexes, squared-off hands and a high-contrast dial ring, all aimed at maximum legibility. Practical, yes. But what people really fell in love with was the look. The Superocean Automatic 46 Super Diver retraces the Slow Motion's celebrated design codes, while adding modern features, like a scratch-proof matt ceramic-inlayed bezel and camouflage dials. Broad hands and indexes in luminescent Super-LumiNova® allow for easy readability underwater. The watch is water resistant to 1,000 m (3,300 ft), as well as being shock-, sand- and saltwater-resistant. And there’s much more to this watch than meets the eye: Its soft-iron inner case offers protection against the effects of magnetic fields, while its bi-directional rotating bezel can be safely secured with a lock on the left side of the case. The two strap options (rubber or titanium bracelet) have a folding clasp that allows for micro-adjustments of up to 15 mm for easy wear over rashies and wetsuits. Best of all, this is no longer strictly a dive watch—surf with it, swim with it, hit the beach bar with it, then wear it out to dinner. The Superocean perfectly balances the nostalgia of its heritage with a fresh new look.

In the 1950s, the demand for divers’ watches grew due to their essential role in ocean exploration and aquatic sports. In 1957, Breitling launched its first dive-watch line, the SuperOcean. By the 1960s, Breitling had honed its undersea expertise into the SuperOcean Slow Motion, a chronograph for seasoned divers looking for optimal performance and legibility. Today's Superocean brings this legacy into the 21st century. It's sporty, technical, durable, and comes in a range of fun colors.
